A musical theatre course for adults who want to explore their performance potential in a supportive, creative environment. Whether you are returning to the stage after years away, building confidence, or developing your singing, acting and dance skills, this is your time to shine. No audition is needed, only enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to work as an ensemble. The Spotlighters is also the natural stepping stone towards our auditioned Showstoppers programme.
This semester the Spotlighters take on songs and scenes drawn from some of the most iconic movie musicals. The cast works on storytelling, character and ensemble performance, building towards a staged showcase that celebrates the material that made these films endure.
The semester ends with a live showcase in our in-house Black Box Theatre.
Your teacher
Led by Gaby Rae, a performer, choreographer and educator. She creates a safe, encouraging space for adults to build performance skills with clarity and confidence.
Ensemble at its heart
You rehearse and perform full ensemble numbers alongside small group scenes, typically three to four performers. Everyone gets meaningful stage time without the pressure of carrying a lead role.
Building the showcase
The 12 weeks open with ensemble work to build cohesion, then move into smaller scene groups matched to each performer. As the showcase approaches, students rehearse outside class hours to bring the performance up to standard.
End-of-term showcase
You perform in our Black Box Theatre in a fully directed showcase, an intimate evening for an audience of friends and family.
Many Spotlighters go on to join our auditioned courses, The Showstoppers and AMTC. Others add our musical theatre dance and singing classes alongside.
Graduates have continued at drama schools including LASALLE, the Royal College of Music and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and appear in professional productions across Singapore.
